The Commissioner for Information, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim on Friday morning stated that the State Government has obtained court order restraining NLC from protest and strike in Rivers State in the 8th of September.
According to Nsirim, “it’s sad to hear such from Labor. There is an injunction restraining labour from protest and strike in Rivers State”
Nsirim further revealed that the state government obtained such injunction yesterday in Port Harcourt Court.
He said, “Labour cannot claim not to have been served because we published it on national dailies, Vanguard News Paper and Sun News Paper on Thursday”
According to him, “the injunction restrain labour from taking any such action pending the hearing of the suit on 8th September. Labour cannot go against the law”
Meanwhile, the National body of NLC has vowed to shut down the Rivers State Secretariat from 8th September, a protest and strike True Blue Reporters gathered is due to what the union tagged as use of force by the governor and government of Rivers State on workers, none payment of minimum wage, gratuity, salary arrears and so on.
