A group in Emohua Local Government Area for the actualization of political inclusiveness and economic development of the area known as ODEGU AGENDA has reacted over the upsurge of insecurity and kidnapping along the Emolga axis of the East West Road.
In a statement on Friday signed by its spokesman, Kachy Robinson, Odegu Agenda blamed Chidi Lloyd, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area for such ugly scenario that was already tackled and has become a thing of past due to strong efforts put together by well meaning communities, groups and individual to achieve the peace before Chidi Lloyd’s assumption of office and unfriendly policies.
“While we condemn the recent upsurge of insecurity within some Emolga communities and the recent kidnapp along the Emolga axis of the East West road, we blame the Emolga council chairman Hon Chidi Llyod for surreptitiously weakening the local security architecture operating within Emolga by his disbandment of OSPAC. It is of public knowledge that OSPAC vigilante were winning this war against insecurity in our domain. Despite their individual flaws, the body under the leadership of Chief Emeka Wori fought insecurity to a standstill. Now everything is politicised.” They stated.
According to them, “Hon Chidi Lloyd, a man who came up with a campaign slogan to making Emolga great again just like a beer commercial advertisement urging us to live with gusto despite life travails, without putting adequate measures squarely to face the challenges ought to know better the consequences of his actions. The Odegu and Rundele people who pioneered the establishment of a local vigilante security (ROSPAC) a replica of OSPAC took this step when the security agencies failed to securing our communities and the East West road. Hon Chidi Lloyd should go back to the drawing board and proffer workable solution to mitigate this occurrence and tackle it headlong.”
“We also blame the Nigeria Police who are seen stationed within short distances along the East West road busying extorting road users. The flash points of kidnapping should be manned by the Police at all times. The Commissioner of Police should call his men to order because he can’t feign ignorance of the unprofessional attitudes of his men along the Emolga axis of the East West road.” They stated.
True Blue Reporters recalls that the Emohua axis of the East-West road experienced clandestine activities which was then tackled with the efforts of the local vigilante groups and the Nigerian Police. The vigilante groups were later disbanded. A situation which didn’t go well with some.
